The Wyldheart demo is a standalone adventure with an opening dungeon, a village region, and three additional dungeons. Its dungeon rooms are procedurally assembled, so a trustworthy walkthrough must teach decision points rather than promise the same corridor order for everyone. Use this route as a spoiler-light checklist for Demo 0.7.2, not as a tile-by-tile map.
Stage 1: establish a reliable save and control setup
Launch the public Demo client from the Steam page for base AppID 3642910. The demo itself is AppID 4475270; it is not the separate Wyldheart Beta AppID 3643050. Stay online if you want the session to save. According to the current official FAQ and hotfix notes, offline mode does not save progress.
Before entering the first dark space, inspect the controls. Confirm interaction, inventory, character sheet, compass or map, and the skill wheel. Aim the crosshair directly at loot or conversation targets. If performance is uneven, use the developer’s present workaround of a 60 FPS cap.
Stage 2: escape The Slurper’s Den
Treat the opening as a training ground for visibility and interaction. Bring out a light source, scan walls and room edges, and investigate objects that react to the crosshair. Breakable mushrooms can conceal routes or useful spaces. When a chamber is safe, choose a recognizable landmark before passing through its next doorway; procedural assembly means “turn left in room three” is not universal advice.
The last row reflects a current community-reported trouble spot: after reaching the injured person near the opening exit, a small dialogue response shown as “…” can be easy to overlook. Select it and continue the exchange before concluding that the rope or exit is broken. This is player-observed guidance, not a guarantee that every future build will present the same interface.
Stage 3: convert the escape into a field plan
On reaching the wider region, use the compass and named points of interest rather than trying to reconstruct the dungeon layout outside. Find the village, talk to residents, and let conversations reveal rumors. Wyldheart intentionally uses eavesdropping and dialogue as discovery tools; it does not reduce every opportunity to a bright quest marker.
Visit the vendor and inspect what the party lacks. A light source, food, and equipment suited to the next objective are more valuable than a bag full of unsorted finds. Review active skills and make sure chosen abilities are actually equipped. Under the documented default keyboard setup, holding T opens the skill wheel.
The world route connects Rivermere and the Whisperwoods in the demo’s playable scope. Hex travel makes direction meaningful, but it does not turn the region into a fixed sequence of mandatory stops. Follow a rumor, return to safety for supplies, or choose one of the available dungeon leads according to the party’s condition.
Stage 4: approach the three additional dungeons
The official demo announcement describes The Slurper’s Den plus three additional dungeons. Prepare for each as a fresh expedition. Room order is variable, dungeon minimap support is limited, and darkness can erase visual context. Place light or use environmental features as breadcrumbs, keep enough supplies for the return, and agree on a retreat condition before the group gets split.
If the group is overwhelmed, reduce the number of simultaneous problems: move toward a cleared doorway, focus attacks, and revive safely rather than scattering. Difficulty adds more enemies instead of merely adding health, so crowd control and sight lines matter. If someone reaches zero Hope, ordinary combat revival is no longer the full answer; that character must be restored through the House of Memories in Whisperwood Forest with reagents.
Sources checked for this walkthrough
The content count, controls, saving rules, dungeon construction, and recovery system come from the official Demo FAQs, the team’s public demo announcement, and the 0.7.2 hotfix. The easily missed exit response is labeled as a player report and comes from the current demo help thread. A community walkthrough was consulted only as a route sanity check; its details are not copied or promoted above official evidence.
If progress appears blocked
- Nothing highlights: center the crosshair and verify the interaction binding.
- A room seems empty: add light, inspect the perimeter, and test breakable mushrooms.
- The opening exit does not advance: finish every response with the injured character, including the understated ellipsis option.
- An object stays locked: record its location and consider whether a skill level gates it.
- The party cannot join: regenerate and privately share the current join code after confirming everyone uses the public Demo client.
- Progress vanished after closing: check whether the session was played offline; the demo does not save in offline mode.
After the opening, a single exact walkthrough would work against the game’s design. The reliable pattern is gather information, prepare in safety, select a rumor or dungeon objective, and return before Hope or supplies become an irreversible problem.
